The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting a 4,000-acre prescribed fire today at the Blue Cypress Conservation Area in Indian River County. The purpose of the burn is ecosystem management of the sawgrass marsh. The airboat crossing on levee L-77 is closed for the duration of the burn. Today’s fire was set by aerial ignition.
