The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting a 400-acre prescribed fire today at the Sand Lakes Conservation Area in northern Indian River County. The purpose of the burn is to reduce hazardous fuel accumulations and to promote fire-dependent species. [Feb. 4, 2015]
