The St. Johns River Water Management District is conducting a 127-acre prescribed fire today at the Longleaf Flatwoods Reserve, approximately 1.5 miles southwest of the property’s parking area, in Alachua County. The purpose of the burn is to reduce hazardous fuels and maintain fire-dependent ecosystems. [March 4, 2015]
